“Promoting fair trade in Vietnam” at Food Expo 2016

From 16th to 19th November 2016, “Promoting fair trade in Vietnam” project, sponsored by EU, participated in International Food Expo in Ho Chi Minh City with 2 fair trade certified cooperatives, Eakiet and Eakar. This is one of the biggest and most credible trade fair in Vietnamese food processing industry with 550 stalls of more than 400 Vietnamese businesses from 30 provinces all over the country and 15 countries outside of Vietnam, displaying thousands of agricultural, food and drink products.

To showcase the best at Vietnam Foodexpo 2016, MoIT (Trade Promotion Agency) has collaborated with many agencies and organizations to select suitable local representatives with focus on agricultural products with high quality, geographic identity, under deep production, with national and international standards, with high added value, professional packaging design, and with large quantity, etc. to showcase at the expo. At the same time, MoIT (Trade Promotion Agency) also utilized the whole systems of Vietnamese Trade Agencies in international territories to encourage participation from businesses with origin from their respective assignments for a total of international businesses from 38 countries and territories to come to the trade fair for exchange and trade.”

The products from the project and the 2 cooperatives were cocoa powder, chocolate, coffee powder, roasted whole bean coffee, tea, pepper, handicraft, etc., displaying in 4 stalls in the trade fair. The products showcased were of high quality, attractive packaging, and appealing to the market. Many businesses domestic and international have put forward the cooperation deal with the cooperatives including international importers from EU, ASEAN, Canada, Korea, Japan, etc.
